TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS |
Marimba Lumina 2.5 (same except as noted) |
| Input / Output Facilities MIDI Interconnections: In, Out, and Through / Auxiliary. Audio outputs: left and right, 1/4 inch phone RTS. Additional inputs: 4 foot switches, 2 triggers, 1 pedal, all 1/4 inch phone RTS. Memory card receptacle: accepts Marimba Lumina memory card. |
Headphone outputs: 1/4 inch phone RTS. |
| Performance Inputs Keyboard: Array of 42 mallet-activated bars, extending from C3 to F6. Bars are 1.7 x 5.6 inches; center to center spacing is 2.3". Additional performance inputs: 2 "controller strips" and 10 "pads". All bars and strips are sensitive to velocity, position (along the major axis), and contact (for sustained or damped notes, continuous controllers, etc.). Mallets: 4 color coded mallets are provided; heads are foam covered to minimize acoustic noise. Conventional mallets are not compatible with Marimba Lumina. |
Mallets:2 mallets provided. |
| Software Features Patches: A patch specifies a stimulus, a zone, an object, associated data, and one or two channel numbers. 50 patches may be defined for each program. Zones: Multiple, overlapping zones may be defined. Boundaries are user modifiable. Individual bars or strips may serve as zones. Key maps: Any bar can generate any MIDI note number. Four key maps can be simultaneously operative. Drum kits can be laid out to one's taste. Tuning tables: User selected (range, key, and mode), user defined (up to 24 notes, arranged in any order), and real time (originating from performance or external MIDI input). Up to ten tuning tables can be called from each program. Channel setup: Initial conditions (bank/instrument, velocity curve, panning, volume, MIDI routing, and effects data) can be defined for each channel. Special capabilities: Many, but of particular note are the complete independence of each of the four mallets, the sensing of note density as a performance variable, and the ability to differentiate between chords and melody. Program memory: 100 programs may be internally stored; 50 of these reside in protected memory; 50 are user accessible. Memory cards provide for storage/retrieval of additional programs in blocks of 50. |
Minor changes made to accomodate altered ranges - otherwise identical. |
| Circuitry and Architecture Supervisory control and user interface: TMS 370 micro-controller. Gesture sensing and processing: ADSP 2115. Internal memory: 32K bytes RAM; 130K bytes PROM, 130K bytes Flash Displays: 80 character back-lighted liquid crystal display and 72 light emitting diodes of various spectral characteristics. Internal sound source: XG-MIDI synth employing wavetable synthesis and featuring 32 note polyphony, hundreds of voices, and extensive digital effects. |
Displays: 52 light emitting diodes |
